SmartyPaws now offers group training classes at our new St. Louis County location. Classes include Puppy and Dog basic and advanced training as well as special activities and workshops focused on behavior modification.

Puppy Kindergarten is for puppies 2-4 months old. Class focuses on socialization and teaching your puppy the basics (sit, walking on a leash, come, safe handling, grooming, crate training and potty training tips.
Jr Puppy Class is for puppies from 5-12 months and expands on the basic skills to add down, stay, loose leash walking, leave-it, expanded socialization skills, recall from a distance and more. Successfully completing this class (including a final test) qualifies your puppy for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R Program. Click here to learn about the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program.
Basic Training (All ages) We work to master the basics by adding increased difficulty and distractions. Controlled socialization is allowed as we work on new or existing skills including: loose leash walking, sit, down, stay, chill, leave-it, shake (optional), etc. Goal is to enhance and further develop your pets good manners and empower your pet to make good choices.
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) (1 year and up) This class will prepare your dog to pass the CGC Certification and reinforce the good behaviors that dog owners desire. Click here to learn more about the CGC qualities and behaviors you will learn.
Nose Work (All ages) Nose work is a fun and stimulating search and scenting activity that virtually all dogs and people can learn. This activity builds confidence and focus in dogs, and provides a safe way to keep dogs fit and healthy through mental and physical exercise.
Tricks (All ages) Learn fun & playful tricks in this mentally stimulating class. This is a great class to help a shy dog come out of their shell, an energetic dog to expel some energy and even an older dog or special needs dog to strengthen and utilize their existing skills.
Workshops will be offered multiple times a month to teach new behaviors, modify problem behaviors and address client concerns. Subjects include: door dashing, chewing, barking problems, jumping, crate training, and more upon request.
Group classes are 6 weeks unless noted and cost $30 per class. Workshops are usually one 60 minute class and also cost $30. Click here to download class descriptions.
We utilize positive methods of training and behavior modification because they are effective and build trust between you and your dog. Unlike harsher compulsion methods, positive training does not cause pain, reactivity or fear in dogs. As a long-standing training professional, I have utilized many methods of training, and positive training produces the best results. Many of our clients have found us after trying other methods.
We offer in-home training, group and private classes in Belleville, boarding at our in our home setting and board and train options.
